Mike and Aleksandra Mooradian         We ride bikes.

Here I am again:) I picked Mike up from the airport and I didn't see him so happy in a looooong time. I love to see him that way. "Old Man" needed a break. We pre-rode the course together and had a lot of fun. There is nothing better than traveling different places with your bike. It is very refreshing riding with shorts on, especially after winter training with tons of clothes on. After our rides, we cruise around in Alex's Subaru. It was very nice of him to let us use his car (which is for sale by the way). We were exploring new places and had some great Mexican food.
Just wanted to post a few pictures from the sunny place but especially the picture of my racing machine.
I can't wait to race!

Happy rides and warm greetings from California,
Aleksandra

So, here I am - I finally made a decision to write something by myself. I realized that practicing my writing skills is almost like riding my bike: I have to do it over and over again and it'll get easier :) ...maybe it is not like riding then :) It's still pretty good to have an excuse that English is my second language, so please understand if I write like a kid.
I arrived in Los Angeles yesterday and got picked up by our good friend Alex Boone . He is the best host ever and he makes me feel like I'm at home. We got up in the morning and the weather was just perfect. Ohhh, I love the sun. Alex got really "sick" and he couldn't go to work, so we went to Fontana to check the course out.  It was awesome! He pre-rode the course with me and gave me few tips so I'm ready to rock and roll on Saturday:)
We stopped at Helens Cycles bike shop on the way back home. Alex picked his new beautiful bike and I had fun seeing those guys at the shop and especially making fun of Vu who drives his Super Fast Subaru WRX like an old lady, haha.
We got home and Alex made an amazing dinner, so good... I'm getting ready for bed. There is olny a 3 hour diffrence between NY and CA  but I feel pretty whooped...how I used to fly to Poland every few weeks where the difference is 6 hours??? I don't know.  Maybe I'm getting old.
I guess I will be up for a while because Alex is putting his new bike together and is riding circles around the apartment...those California people (...)   :)

  Happy rides,
Aleksandra

So March 28th will be our first race day for 2010 and we couldn't be more excited.  Or is it nervous.  Pretty sure its a combination of both.  Everyday revolves around preparing ourselves for these really important races that determine who you are in the national mtb world.  If you can do well at these races then potential sponsors and the media will notice you.  If you have a bad, lets say 6 or 7 races which the series is made up of, then you might as well start looking forward to the next year.  The difference between this year and the previous years for me is a pulled leg muscle that is finally feeling better.  Aleksandra has had her share of aches and pains but they're nothing like this monster that has haunted me for the past three and a half years.  This has been the first training season that hasn't been interupted with time off the bike due to seeing 10 different doctors, 1 acupunturist, 3 different massage therapists, a million ART office visits, 10weeks of ROLFING, 5 MRIs, 2 Chiropractors, 2 US physical therapists, 1 European physical therapist (who was amazing), 10 visits to a doctor that performed something called the Graston Technique, and then finally a few months going to Dr Rob, who is actually an arthritic doctor and helped me tremendously.  So now that this seems to be behind me I'm looking forward to having the best season ever.  Maybe a top 20 national placing and a Windham World Cup start.  We will see.  The weather is awesome here so I have to get out and ride.

Visiting Verge! 03/11/2010

So here is our first post on the new mooradian weekly cycling blog.  So much has happened since the beginning of the year that has been blog worthy, but it took us forever to get our site going with all the busy day to day life stuff and everything.  We will try and post some pics of Aleksandra's training trip to Calpe, Spain in the next few days.
Since we decided to start our own husband and wife team  (K.Bedford/Spin/Verge team) its been a real learning experience dealing with the industry and people related to the cycling world.  Everyone has been super to deal with so far and hopefully that will be a good indication of the season to come with it starting in 2 weeks.  Fontana California that is where us east coasters go to suffer against the west coasters who seem to be blazing fast this time of year.
Getting back to the bicycle industry and our sponsors.   We have alot to say about the people who have helped us out for 2010 but for this first post I just want to tell everyone about our experience last night in New Windsor, New York.  This was our meeting with Verge cycling apparel company.  The folks there invited Aleksandra and I down to show us the product, try some stuff on and get to know everyone.  From the minute we walked in we felt right at home.  Everyone there gives you there undivided attention and makes you feel like youve known them forever.  The products are handmade in there factory in Poland and it is evident that there heart goes into everything they manufacture right down to underlayers and socks.  So after seeing all the products, meeting everyone, and learning how some of its made I am so proud to be wearing the Verge products this year.  You will be hearing alot about Verge on this blog this year because we are going to talk about it and it is going to be on the podium quite a bit.  HaHa
So to top it off they took us out to dinner to a great restaurant in upscale Cornwall NY wined and dined us like we were one of them and very nicely escorted us back to the thruway.  Great experience and thank you so much Mike, Kurt, Karolina and the whole crew.  We will be back very soon to ride with you guys.

See you on the trails!
Mike & Alex
